I wonder how much thought our County Council put into its “transit solution” for 164th Street. For a road that carries 50,000 cars a day, transit is not the answer. Are we to believe that buses will take 20,000 cars off the road per day? That isn’t happening now.
The council thinks increasing the developers’ fees to fund transit options is a fix? Does the council think commuters will walk from their neighborhoods to 164th Street to catch a bus to work? Commuters who do use transit travel to a park and ride facility by driving their cars on 164th Street. Allowing further development will only increase the traffic and decrease the quality of life for those who live in the area. And that developers’ fee increase? You can bet the developers won’t be paying that fee themselves, it will be passed on to the homebuyer. Looks like it’s business as usual for the county. Is it just a coincidence this decision was made after the election?
