It is disturbing to read the continued argumentative and non-constructive statements of the opponents to the University of Washington Everett Station site. Can’t we all agree that: 1. A UW campus anywhere in Snohomish County is a good thing.
2. The state won’t put a campus anywhere unless the entire county rallies around the site.
3. The state would be hard-pressed to choose a site other than that which a million-dollar study ranked highest.
The difference between the Everett and Marysville sites is like the difference between a downtown condominium and a suburban housing development. We each have our own personal preferences. But what is clear is that the condominium is closer to amenities, takes up less footprint, and is less dependent on a one-car, one-driver transportation philosophy. Personally, I applaud the UW for picking a site which lends itself to students using public transportation.
