In Sunday’s letters, a writer advocates calling Olympia and begging them to raise our taxes. (“Citizens must be willing to pay.”) I have an idea: He can get rid of his unwanted money by writing a check to the state treasury. I’ll bet they cash it. Then he can sleep soundly at night knowing that he did the right thing.
For too many in this state, government can never be big enough!
Their motto is, “When Too Much Government Is Never Enough.”
It increased in size by 33 percent since 2004. Still, not enough. Because there’s still money in the voter’s pocket to be had.
My idea is that government should take a 5 percent to 10 percent haircut across the board.
Then, they can look at individual departments for additional cuts, if needed.
There’s the plan. Go for it.
