Regarding the Tuesday letter writer who suggested Boeing lay off striking workers and replace them with contractors: Although I could go on for hours, I have two things to say.
First, the reason Boeing is hurting financially in its commercial aircraft world has nothing to do with its incredible workforce or any strike — it has all to do with the poor decision at the top to outsource design and manufacturing work to companies that could not perform. The strike actually (as strikes at Boeing usually do), gave Boeing time to play schedule catch-up.
Secondly, as for the writer’s “stab the worker in the back and hire me” resume, it’s no wonder he is looking for a job.
