Trump’s legal team has now excused even treason

The brilliant legal mind of President Trump’s defense attorney Alan Dershowitz has revealed the logic behind the impossibility of Trump’s impeachment. Dershowitz is reported to aver that, since every politician conflates his own interest with the public interest, Trump’s actions triggering the current impeachment trial can’t really be considered impeachable acts. Logically, that can be the defense argued in any such case, making the very concept of impeachment illogical and impossible. (“Your Honor, God told me that the world needs me to be president, but it’s money that wins elections, so I prayed for money. Well, when the leaders of those other fine countries offered so much money, how could I possibly turn down God’s obvious answer to my prayers?”)

Not even treason, it would seem, is an impeachable offense if the perpetrator believes that he was doing the right thing; or can convince enough other “logical” thinkers to agree with him.
