Regarding the Dec. 9 article, “Tulalips target smoking,” I see mixed signals. The tribes are sponsoring an anti-smoking campaign — that’s great — but they also seem to have two smoke shops and allow smoking in their casinos. Hmmm … kinda makes the anti-smoking campaign look like a “feel-good” program, doesn’t it? No doubt the smoke shops are big money-makers and the casinos must benefit from their smoking policy (or it wouldn’t be that way).
But, if the tribes truly want to stand behind the health issue of smoking, they’re sending the wrong signals.
