In Everett’s mayoral race, City Council President Judy Tuohy rises to the top for her ability to get things done. I have known Judy for many years. She was born and raised in Everett and understands the problems and strengths of our community. Her leadership style involves listening first to the community and then proceeding to creative action. Today there are many issues facing our city, ones that do not have easy answers. Judy has the interest of Everett at heart and will work in a healing way to accomplish what needs to be done.
She has been a teacher, a retail buyer and the manager who moved the Arts Council of Snohomish County from a small local nonprofit to the present-day Schack Art Center, opening it in 2011, under budget and ahead of schedule despite a severe recession. Its success was not a given, but came about by Judy’s drive and perseverance. As a city council member Judy gave the momentum needed to begin expansion of Everett Public Library’s well-used southend branch, scheduled to open later this year. Judy is the effective leader we need working for us. I am proud to support Judy Tuohy for mayor.
