The United States government has a way of making enemies and putting its citizens at risk. A large part of this problem stems from election campaign contributions whereby commercial interests and other groups are heavy contributors and guide our foreign policy. Our government representatives like their jobs and plush benefits. Quid pro quo.
Many countries don’t care for America’s brand of commercialism. The Jewish lobby, with sympathizers in sensitive government positions, has pushed for generous gifts of money and weapons to Israel under the euphemism that Israel is an ally.
The Arabs have been in Israel for more than 40 generations since the Romans dispersed the rebellious Jewish people. Israel present-day has encouraged immigration by people of their faith. Is it fair that the Palestinians be pushed out? Might is not always right.
As Sen. John McCain wanted, campaign contributions should be severely limited so there would be little incentive to betray the American people’s trust. Fervent patriotism is fine, but does America need to be an armed camp? If our movers and shakers don’t know history, mistakes will be repeated.
