Every candidate looking to be elected to the presidency of these United States keeps repeating where are the jobs!
Well, the jobs are offshore. American companies not only park their profits offshore, mostly in Switzerland, but also with our government’s blessing and tax breaks, they keep building factories and shipping work overseas.
This includes not only factory work, but a good deal of computer servicing and customer service. How many readers have called a company and gotten an individual in Philippines, India or Ireland who is not authorized to make a decision, only to keep repeating that they cannot attend to your request or inquiry, and that the supervisor is not available?
I firmly believe that the solution to get jobs in the United States is that all these so-called American companies like Boeing, Stanley, Black and Decker, Arrow, Van Heusen and Fruit of the Loom stop shipping their work overseas. These purported American companies should be obliged to open plants or offices in the United States and give jobs to the American people. If they don’t comply promptly, within six months, they should be penalized heavily.
How else is the American public going to obtain the funds necessary to buy their products? There are many more companies that I could mention, especially in the auto and computer industry, that have abandoned America, where American workers have initially produced their quality products enabling them to have a reputation for quality. The merchandise that comes in from overseas normally leaves a lot to be desired in quality and durability. Mr. John Q. Public should ask himself: Why are these companies pocketing the tax breaks and investing their money overseas, instead of in America and hiring American workers?
