In regard to Debra Smith’s Sunday article on the poor builders not finding enough buyers: Perhaps people would like to buy in an area that doesn’t look so trashy. All of their beautiful new homes are in developments that are glutted with too many signs. Not to mention that most of their sign posting is against Washington state laws RCW 47.42.080 and WAC 468-66-050, which state that real-estate signs cannot be posted further than 500 feet from the property they are advertising! And not along state routes!
Indeed, when one drives from Everett to Bothell along 35th Avenue SE, it is awash with signs and even at the intersection of 228th Street SE there are signs posted on the utility pole.
I have e-mailed the county and they are aware of this problem. Perhaps some of the builders will now get fined as well if they don’t clean up their act and clean up our roads. No one wants to live in a trashy neighborhood, and that’s exactly what they have done. With all of the fancy plantings they have installed, it is really a shame.
