It would seem that the latest lawsuit against the Everett School superintendent is a ploy for tabloid celebrity by a former student who is claiming to be a lawyer wannabe. What better way to get on the “Grand ole Oprah” and “Dr. Phil” shows and be famous than this attempt to get damages from the district (spell that: taxpayers) and force a religiously diversified student body to listen to a song closely associated to the Catholic Church in general and the Rosary in particular.
Many of today’s student bodies are unaware that public learning institutions must serve all of the student body and refrain from presenting material which some, religious groups or others, may find offensive.
By the same token, associated student bodies now have a voice in school activities, but must realize that policy is set by the administration and unlimited freedom is not a part of this policy. The at-large community must also be served. After all, they are paying the bills for the schools and students.
