We thought that we were supposed to conserve electricity, and we do at our home. Why is it that on a dark, wet winter Sunday morning when we are on our way to church and pass the Snohomish High School football stadium, all the bright lights above the stadium and the lights above the bleacher seats have to be blazing away?
Why do the school children have to be out on the football field playing soccer on a Sunday morning? Why do they have to play on such cold, wet mornings? Aren’t the parents afraid of their children catching pneumonia? The skiers are warmly dressed for their sport, but soccer players are so scantily attired.
Why can’t Sunday mornings be left free of scheduled sports events so that the children can be encouraged to attend church or Sunday school? It seems that the school district does not favor worship services for the students.
Further, our schools need money, yet they can afford to use these costly lights for what is not a necessary part of academic learning.
Sunday mornings should be considered sacred. Shouldn’t we be a God-fearing nation? Don’t expect me to vote for a school levy when our schools have so much money to waste and do not support our churches.
