I was reading in Wednesday’s Herald about how the school district is trying to figure out how and when the kids are to make up the snow days and flood days.
I think they should take some of those “teacher in-service days” that they have too many of and use a couple of them for the kids to use instead of a day off.
The teachers can come in on a couple of Saturdays if need be. Some schools were talking about having seniors come in after their graduation ceremony for two to three days of school to make up those snow days. I think that’s absolutely ridiculous!
What happened to the day when kids would get out of school the beginning of June? They have way too many days and half-days off and that’s why they get out of school so stinking late these days, which gives them a much shorter summer. I’m sure the teachers would rather have a longer summer off too.
Maybe there’s a way the school districts could reserve two to three days in case of snow, without taking a day from the kids!
Just something to consider.
