In regard to the Thursday article “County Spending on Harvey Field debated”: I don’t understand why the Republicans on the County Council continue to try and force taxpayers to pay $220,000 on a study just so a private corporation, Harvey Airfield, can build on a floodplain.
Where is the common sense?
Only months ago the area of concern was 8 feet under water, because of flooding!
John Koster’s statement that the county has always conducted floodplain studies so they should “Stay on the course” resonates of president Bush’s theme to “Stay the course” with his policies, regardless of public opinion.
You cannot will a floodplain dry. I can’t help but wonder if councilman Koster is truly interested in the green pastures east of Snohomish or the color of the Harveys’ money.
