Rewarding teaching excellence is a nice dream, but collective bargaining has replaced this as a reality in most school districts. The Snohomish School District is putting its money in the right place by maintaining a place where school children (and others) are taught such important survival skills as swimming.
In an area surrounded by waterways such as this, what could be a better way to spend tax dollars for education? One child’s life saved is worth much more than the price of operating such a valuable resource.
