Reading the Nov. 9 letter titled “Fighting terrorism: Some teens don’t understand enemy,” I was struck by Robert Waddell’s “everyone-is-entitled-to-my-opinion” mentality. His statement that the teens mentioned in an earlier article “certainly don’t know right from wrong” seems to ignore the fact that these young people believe in conscience rather than blind patriotism.
Students who stand up for their moral beliefs are to be commended, not silenced. I am another high school student who believes in making her voice heard, and I would like to remind Mr. Waddell that morality is not a simple “cut and dry” issue. As my newspaper teacher tells me, there are two sides to every story.
