The city of Everett should expand its study regarding vehicle parking (“After ruling, police are cautious about towing vehicle-homes,” The Herald, May 7). Living in vehicles isn’t the only parking problem. We are homeowners in a residential neighborhood and pay a good amount of money in property taxes to keep our streets safe and livable.
We now have a new homeowner in our neighborhood who has opened up a car repair business in his driveway on weekends. These weekends have now turned into noises of air wrenches, air compressors, hydraulic jacks, engine hoisting, the slamming of vehicle doors, etc. Let’s not forget the steady stream of cars with unfamiliar faces parking on our street with car owners that don’t live here. Lots of cars; less spaces for owners and their visitors. Not to mention the hard feelings this creates. No doubt it’s a cash-only business. No taxes for Everett.
The idea of retiring with an active car repair business is unacceptable. No doubt house values will take a dive. Neighbors working during the week don’t want an active car repair business interrupting the two precious days left in the week.
City of Everett, buck up! Do what’s right. Get this menace out of our residential neighborhood and put it in industrial where it should be. This is a nuisance problem adversely affecting all home owners not just in our neighborhood but Everett-wide.
