Regarding the Thursday letter about the “Rocky Horror Show” at the Everett New Theatre:
My daughter and I ushered at the theater in the beginning when it was the Everett Historic Theater – when they had shows suitable for families. It all came to an end last year when a production had a huge picture of two entwined, naked bodies, inferring it a needed prop. I could see it clearly from the back row and persons were way out there in their fondling etc., on stage.
I asked several young fathers what they thought of the play. The first one, with a pre-teen son, thought it should have been rated X. The second, with two young daughters, left at intermission.
So I complained to management, to which the reply was, “I don’t control what shows are picked.”
Consequently, since that period, after volunteering for six-plus years, we no longer get calls to serve. What do we have in this community that serves families?
