I just read the letter about the noise at Naval Station Everett bothering someone and had to respond. I was a Marine in Vietnam in ‘68 and ‘69. My job required me driving my jeep all over the northern sector, and when I would pass under F-4s landing or taking off at the Da Nang air base, I would park and listen and feel that sound of freedom reverberate through my body. That was over 45 years ago and I can still feel it.
In the ’80s and ’90s I carried mail in Oak Harbor and listening and watching the jets fly over reinforced my commitment to this great country. I now reside in Everett and look out my window and see the Naval Station. And very recently a plus has been added. I hear the “Call to Colors” every morning at 7:55 and make sure my window is fully open to hear “The Star-Bangled Banner” in all its glory. You can count this citizen grateful for the path my Creator has led me on.
