Today is Memorial Day, the day we Americans set aside to recognize and remember those service men and women who gave their precious lives in defense of our country and freedom.
I have been a musician providing the “greatest music ever written” for the “greatest generation” America has ever seen, for over 40 years now. It is on Memorial Day that I remember many of my veteran friends who served during World War II and who are now gone, leaving their wives and loved ones behind to carry on. It has been an honor, blessing and privilege to entertain you all these years, to hear your war time stories, both good and bad, and your fond memories of the dance music you have cherished for so long. One of my fondest memories was providing the dance music for HBO’s “Band of Brothers” reunion several years ago and that musical memory will live with me for the rest of my life.
They are veterans just like many of you. Over 1,500 WWII vets are dying each day, taking their experiences with them. Please take the time to share your stories of WWII with your family, and the youth of today, so as to not let your sacrifices go untold!
Again thanks for allowing me to take you back in time through the songbook of your life … they just do not write music like yours anymore!
God Bless you, our flag, our nation and our freedom you fought so long ago to preserve!
