I would like to answer Lynn McCormick’s very fine May 18 letter, “Our troops were showered with love.” I am a disabled Vietnam veteran and I do remember what it was like for me when I came home in 1967. It was not the best time to be a returning soldier in Los Angeles.
I don’t begrudge the fine men and women who serve on the Lincoln. In fact, I am very proud of the job they did. I am thankful that we do have such outstanding young men and women who are willing to answer the call and serve. Thank you, Lynn, for your sentiments as they are appreciated and hopefully someday I will be able to “come home.” To the men and women of the Lincoln, welcome home and job well done. We are very proud of you!
