I recently concluded my touring of Snohomish County, specifically along the Skykomish River. It is my estimation that the people who live in this area have been blessed with the most beautiful area in the world. While ascending the trail from Sunset Falls back up to Mount Index River Road, I slipped going over one of the larger boulders and broke both bones in my left leg. We made contact with the emergency service providers and soon I was surrounded by a complement of firefighters/emergency techs. I still had my doubts that they would be able to heft my 350-pound bulk over the rocks and back to the road but they certainly had the zeal and the ability to do the task at hand. Pretty much immobilized, they carried/rolled me up to the vehicle and then down the road to Valley General Hospital.
As might be expected, I let all of my rescuers slip away into the evening before I even found out the Fire Department number or any of their names.
Who were those uniformed saviors who provided me with comfort during my time with them? I am hoping that in writing to you they will somehow find out how much each of them means to me, the large guy with the broken leg they transported on July 9. Of course a special thanks goes out to the county residents who provide this life-saving service. If I could sing, I’d sing praises to you all.
Again, thanks to all the direct service providers and to the indirect service providers.
