Vital reminder to thank veterans

I was so happy to read the July 1 guest commentary about veterans, “Honor those who have paid for our freedom” by Joanie Hinchcliffe Miles.

Too many Americans forget how fortunate they are to be in this wonderful country, and to remember our servicemen and women, and the ones who have given their lives.

I am concerned that children will not be taught to respect our flag. Even some adults lack respect.

Whenever I see a serviceman or woman, I always say “thank you” to them.
