Volunteers and sponsors donate generously

For two years now, children with disabilities have had the opportunity to learn and play soccer here in the Snohomish community. The program, TOPSoccer, enables these children to get much needed structured physical activity and experience the excitement and camaraderie of sports.

The local TOPSoccer program is a division of the Snohomish Youth Soccer Club and is in response to the initiative of the club’s parent organizations (WSYSA and USYS). This outreach program exists only because of volunteers and sponsors who generously donate countless hours of personal time and also the equipment necessary to make the program work.

At this time special recognition needs to go to Uniroyal Tire, which is the nationwide title sponsor of TOPSoccer. Being able to adapt the game of soccer to suit the ability of the players often comes down to being able to adapt the equipment. So Uniroyal’s recent donation of adaptive equipment targets a high need area of the local program. Uniroyal supplied tethered balls, bell balls (for visually impaired players), oversized balls (for use with wheelchairs) and a set of portable goals. The fact that they supplied similar equipment kits to over 200 other TOPSoccer programs nationwide compounds the good that the company has done.

So the directors of the Snohomish TOPSoccer program would like to thank and recognize Uniroyal Tire and its local dealer, Shawn Poteet of Eastside Tire &Muffler, for their generous gift to help serve the needs of this special part of the Snohomish community.

Director, Snohomish TOPSoccer
