My constitutional rights have been stripped away. To force me to pick a party and then have to vote in the primary for a candidate in said party feels like I am being controlled, oppressed, dictated to, and forced into a corner.
My rights as a citizen has been removed for political control for selfish political gains. I understand the reasoning behind this, but I thought voting was about the people and their will, not oversight of political parties. How is the democratic process being served when voters have to pick a side before casting a vote. And if I pick Republican and vote Democrat then my vote will be nullified by the state of Washington.
And why would how I vote be public for 60 days? This is self-serving to the political parties as well, and not serving the people.
I am a Republican and I will not claim to be a Democrat simply to select a candidate in the Democratic Party.
Many Republicans may cross party lines this election, but that does not mean they want to claim to be a Democrat or change to that party.
So I guess I won’t be voting in the primary for the Democratic candidate I would like to see on the ballot in November.
Thanks a lot, Washington politicians.
