I’ve been noticing letters from people concerned about their property taxes, school levy elections and park bonds. Sure, no one enjoys paying property taxes but these new assessments are a bit of good news. While my home/property assessment rises, I become more convinced that my investment here in Lake Stevens is sound, even when times are a little shaky. And paying the taxes on it is just part of the investment picture. It comes with the territory.
But this increase in property tax will in no way make me sway from the responsibility or belief that our community needs this school levy election to pass. My child benefits from each aspect of this levy and so do several thousands of other students. We must support our children, regardless of what’s happening in the world.
Our school district is doing a great job. I would like to see this continue. I look forward to mailing my ballot with a yes vote, as soon as it arrives. I urge everyone to do the same. Voting yes for kids is the right investment, no matter where we live.
