You have been misinformed when your editorial says Ron Wambolt is a “one issue” candidate. It is true that he has emphasized the need for the citizens to wrest control from the current council, which strongly favors and is pushing for higher building heights for developers. It is simply not true that he is a one-issue candidate. He has more business experience and qualifications than Jeff Wilson will ever acquire. Also, please understand that the developers have forced this issue to the forefront, not the citizens.
What Wilson did not tell you is that the incentives he favors will allow the heights to go well above 30 feet or even 33 feet, possibly as high as 40 feet, with or without slopes. He has slyly misrepresented himself throughout the campaign on heights. His peers on the council are leery of him, even including other pro-development council members. Mauri Moore stated in a letter to constituents that he has “fallen short” as a council member and she also suggested that he has not always been a polite gentleman.
Further, if Jeff Wilson is such a great expert planner, why did he leave the employment of Edmonds? His meeting attendance record is poor. Wilson simply does not even begin to compare to the accomplishments of Ron Wambolt who retired as a high ranking manager of the Fluke Corp.
Wambolt has consistently voiced concern about taxes, street maintenance, Paine Field and budgetary waste. He is no one-issue candidate, and the citizens will recognize his abilities by electing him on Nov. 8.
