Regarding the Wednesday letter, “Charging stations dangerous idea,” no one can argue against the fact that U.S. 2 desperately needs improvement.
I drive it, white-knuckled and with extreme caution, several times a year, mostly to ski at Stevens Pass. But the writer refers to “West Coast yuppies” driving “electric kiddy cars” — hmmmm, sounds a bit disparaging. Apparently the writer is unaware of the significant effort being taken by automakers worldwide to reduce CO2 emissions from automobiles. And I struggle with the writer’s logic that an increase in electric vehicles on the road automatically equates to higher traffic volume.
But it was the last paragraph that really amazed me. “Remember, electricity is not a renewable resource either, once the water has gone over the dam, it’s gone for good.” Seriously? My goodness, so when all the snow melts out of the mountains this spring, and the last drop of water has flowed through the hydro-electric turbines, we’re done? I better sell my skis!
No, I’ll keep my skis. Instead, I highly recommend the writer acquire a “Physics For Dummies” book, read it, and understand it.
Thanks for publishing that letter. It was one of the more “entertaining” letters I’ve read.
