With regard to the May 6 Herald article titled, “Everett citizens looking for a wave of change”: Not everyone agrees what should be done with the Everett waterfront, but most agree it’s time to do something. Some attended the workshop in support of preserving natural areas in east Everett. Some were north Everett residents concerned about industrial expansion in the port. Some were public officials looking for new ideas.
I suggest a berth or two with a direct line to rail be built for cargo containers from deep sea vessels. The berth should be just south of the Navy base – unless some deal could be swung with the Navy.
The intention would be to better support the Boeing Everett facility by reducing the number of shipments up and down the rail corridors in the Puget Sound region. The revision would also enable shipments for other purposes, too, and certainly provide more jobs.
