In response to Kenneth W. Weigel’s Nov. 11 letter “Democrats still don’t get why they lost”: I would just like to make a couple of quick points.
First of all, John Kerry wasn’t “overwhelmingly defeated.” He lost by 3 percent of the popular vote. And he wasn’t too far from winning in the Electoral College.
Secondly, I wanted to say that it is not only unfair but rude of Weigel to say that Democrats have no “intellectual courage to seriously reflect on their choice.” We live in a democracy where people have always been allowed to have their own opinions, and should never have to change that opinion just because of who is in office at the time, no matter how many votes that person gets.
Now that the election is over and my choice of president didn’t take office, I look forward to supporting my party in 2008, because it represents my opinions.
