This is in response to the May 23 letter titled “Bush-haters only help our enemies”, I am a Vietnam Vet and I want to know more about what went wrong on 9-11. I think those events need to be investigated, along with ties to Enron and our involvement in the failed coup attempt in Venezuela.
Do I think the Bush Administration is complicit in 9-11? No, but I don’t feel asking those questions aide the enemy. If they have nothing to hide why act like they do? We, the people have the right to question our leaders. Aide and comfort will come with our blind following of our “war” against terrorism. Aide and comfort will come when we squash any dissent, for then we will have become the enemy. For every bomb we drop we recruit more terrorists. To satisfy our bloodlust we are giving our enemies all the propaganda they need. We have yet to wage war in Afghanistan. War is ugly and messy.
As for the comment about those that find the going rough running to Canada, I would like to repeat that I am a Vietnam Vet, I did not run, unlike our president who went AWOL from the National Guard, no less. As for running, we only have to listen to Bush himself when he admitted to the German interviewer that he was running from harm’s way following the attack. I hope risking my life for my country, for another “war” wasn’t a waste.
