I am writing in support of the Lakewood School District’s upcoming levy on March 9. I have three children in Lakewood schools, and have volunteered at the elementary schools for years. The Lakewood School District deserves the community’s support.
The money raised from passage of the March levy will be used for a variety of needs, such as transportation, safety, curriculum and technology. Our Lakewood students are competing for jobs and college admission with students from much larger districts. We need to give them not only an academic advantage, but a technological advantage as well. Our students need to know how to use current technology to compete in today’s business environment. And we need instructors who are properly trained and motivated to use the computers in their classroom. My fourth grader is learning how to put together a Power Point presentation. That’s exciting to me. But with 29 students in the classroom, using only six computers, skills can’t be utilized and practiced on a regular basis.
We ask our students to daily give us their best effort in the classroom. We need to give our best effort to support them. Please vote yes for the March 9 Lakewood School District levy.
