I’m writing about the NASCAR racetrack in Marysville. I have heard that it’s going to bring jobs to the county and that it will be good for the economy, but not one word about the cost to the taxpayers, and how and when the taxpayers are going to see their tax dollars given back. I know that when companies usually come into an area they are promised certain – should I say, bribes – to come into that area.
The Snohomish County executive has said that Snohomish County is out of money. Jobs are going to have to be cut. Does he mean that more jobs will have to be cut so they can help pay for this racetrack? Everett says it is running short. I believe that Marysville, as well, is out of or short on funds in schools, salaries, etc. If we don’t have the funds to keep our residents working, how are we to pay for this racetrack? We must tell NASCAR to put up the money for roads, signal lights and whatever, before we open our arms and pockets. We, the taxpayers can’t take any more of “trust your government, we will do right by you.”
Let’s see our city and county council members back their actions with making NASCAR put up the expense money for all the needed improvements before they come to Snohomish County.
