Despite the vast number of unemployed people (8.2 percent), how many are idled due to lack of job skills? Such as reading, writing, math, communicating?
In a Washington, D.C., public high school, only 53 percent graduated. To counteract this, the school district initiated a program that will pay a kid, with poor academic or behavioral problems, $5.25 an hour to attend summer school.
Paying $5.25 per hour to a kid to entice the kid to learn?
There is nothing wrong with our schools, our teachers, our libraries, etc.
The problem is the kid who refuses to take advantage of receiving an education.
You can lead a kid to the class room but you can’t force the kid to learn.
