Whatever happened to the much anticipated “peace dividend” that many predicted would result from the end of the Cold War? And why does the United States spend as much on its military as the rest of the world combined? And why are 25 percent of our 2.3 million active duty troops stationed on foreign soil?
Exactly when did the United States become an imperialist nation? Make no mistake, by any definition of “imperialist,” the United States is. And for what? Could it be that the menace President Dwight Eisenhower warned of, “the military-industrial complex,” has taken full control of both the political and industrial policy of these United States? Is a more current description of the menace that afflicts our once proud and great nation “the military-industrial-media complex”?
Perhaps most important of all: When will the people of the United States elect the representatives, senators and president necessary to regain “of the people, by the people and for the people”?
