As I read the front page June 25 article titled: “County loses injury lawsuit”, the first thing that came to my mind was the wastefulness, pettiness, frivolousness and most of all, arrogance, the county officials portrayed defending their position. The county, in its efforts to win the battle but lose the war, is uncertain as to how much it even spent on the lawsuit. (One of the family’s attorneys estimated the county had spent approximately $150,000).
I must agree with Joe Wilson, one of the family’s attorneys, that that is a great waste of public funds. But not only that, who is in charge of managing those funds and why is the true dollar amount spent not available? In whom are we placing our trust? In whom can we trust?
