We musn’t punish a successful program

While reading the Sept. 3 article about Ron Lavigueure, who diverted Woods Creek, we have to wonder how tearing out successful fish rearing ponds is going to punish Mr. Lavigueure. What is it about our Departments of Ecology and Fish and Wildlife? Can’t they think of another way to make him pay for the wonderful success he’s had in the fish ponds he has established?

Why do they insist on shooting themselves in the foot? By having those ponds torn out they are cutting off their nose to spite their face.

It is real clear to us that this man knows what he is doing. He has done what other groups with state and federal money have been unable to do. Why not take his expertise and put it to some good use? To quote Mr. Mighell “to have him remove the finest fish protection areas in this county is contrary to why we have such regulations”.

We’re hoping the local political leaders and all sportsman clubs will jump on the bandwagon and come to the defense of Ron Laviguere, not for failing to acquire a permit, but for developing the habitat needed to raise the numbers of wild fish in the area.
