There is a large segment of forgotten people. They are called the working poor and seniors.
In every other nation on Earth, seniors are revered and taken care of. America is the only nation that puts its seniors in housing, and then neglects them.
Many seniors and poor live in manufactured homes and in mobile home parks. These communities help each other. They are for lower-income or fixed-income residents. Many of these parks are being sold to developers for apartments or homes. Seniors are faced at 80-plus years of age losing everything or moving the home and there is nowhere to move them. Most are not able to cope with that task. The reason for this is that the Growth Management Act is forcing more density into cities and urban areas. Cities and counties need a bigger tax base.
Why can’t our government put our seniors above greed? The working poor can never achieve the ultimate goal of survival and independence in retirement. We need to save some space in our communities for our seniors.
