With the holidays on the way, charity once again fights poverty. (Nov. 4 article, “Marysville food and toy drive starts Saturday.”) Such compassionate gestures are always appreciated, acting as a temporary relief to hunger and need. This year in addition to supporting food and toy drives, let’s make an effort to end hunger and poverty in America.
With a new president and Congress in the coming year, it is a perfect time to let them know being the industrialized country with more children living in poverty than any other except Brazil, is not OK. There are many ideas to change this, the problem is lack of action. So write and call your elected representatives and tell them it is time to end this American tragedy.
