We are writing in response to Eugene Robinson’s Tuesday column to thank him! We totally agree with his statement, “The role of any American president and secretary of state should have been to move quickly to bring hostilities to an end. Instead, Bush all but egged the Israelis on and Condoleezza Rice went so far as to reject the idea of a cease-fire.” He goes on to say, “Hezbollah started this with its rockets, but the unrestrained Israeli response threatens to make an iconic hero of Hezbollah leader Hason Nasrallah.”
We just received an e-mail from Bishop Riah, the Anglican Bishop in Jerusalem, calling out for help. He states in detail the horrific situation in many of the areas in Israel/Palestine, but it is especially critical in Gaza, and now Lebanon, where there has been constant bombardment of the infrastructure, including water and electric systems. He was preparing to leave with other bishops to take medical aid to the doctors and nurses who struggle to serve the injured, the sick and the dying.
America, we must not keep silent!
