Last week, as I was driving down the left lane of Broadway in north Everett, I noticed a few cars stopped in the lane ahead of me. I thought they were waiting to turn left, so I changed lanes and continued down the road. Suddenly two jaywalking teenage girls stepped out from behind one of those cars and into my lane. I wasn’t going very fast, so I was able to stop. However, it startled both me and the girls. Recently, I read in The Herald of two pedestrians who were killed. One person was jaywalking across a busy street in Mill Creek.
Pedestrians – please, please, please don’t jaywalk! Parents, remind your teens and children to cross the street at the crosswalks and to obey the traffic signals. The life you save may be your own or your child’s.
