My name is Casey and I am a seventh grader at Maplewood Parent Cooperative in Edmonds. I am writing because I am concerned about climate change. Climate change is causing bad air quality. I like to go hiking but nowadays my parents say “no” because of the bad air quality and my asthma is worsened by the air quality.
The problem is easy to understand: climate change is heating the earth so the carbon dioxide goes up and then traps the heat. The trapped heat makes the earth more dry and the forest lights on fire very easily. The forest fires then produce a lot of smoke. Do not forget about the smog from the power plants, the carbon traps all that and causes air pollution and bad air quality.
To fix climate change we need to first educate everyone and then stop greenhouse gas emissions so we don’t have smog or forest fires, but we still would need to collaborate and figure out how to get rid of the carbon dioxide in the atmosphere to really stop climate change.
This is important because we only have one earth, and we need to save it. To do that, we need to team up everyone; kids, adults, businesses and governments to stop this climate change for my generation and future generations. If we do this, my asthma and everyone else will be thankful.
