Perhaps we need a new holiday called Letter Writing Day. On this holiday, no cards please, everyone has to write a letter to someone.
Some suggestions might be: a family member, your spouse, the postman, a friend, your neighbor, a teacher (yours or your child’s), your doctor, your lawyer, your tax person, your boss, your employer, your pastor, your legislator, the president or a serviceman or woman; just to name a few.
If you can’t read, write or spell, find someone who can and dictate to them what you would like to say and to whom you’d like to say it.
Be nice, be kind, show appreciation, show love, show honor, and show respect. This is not intended to be a way to vent frustration or irritation; rather a random act to kindness.
If you absolutely can’t find anyone to write to, write a letter to yourself and mail it.
Handwritten letters have been forgotten and replaced by social media and other forms of communication.
Think how fun it would be to send an unexpected letter to someone or to receive one yourself or just to wonder on Letter Writing Day, from whom will you receive one, or who knows maybe even more than one.
Think about it, and let’s get writing.
