Only about a month to go until his coronation, and yes, I said coronation, not inauguration. The Donald really thinks he will be king. He disdains the nation’s intelligence community and will ignore some daily briefings that tell our president what’s happening in this fast-changing world because, as he said, “I’m a smart man.”
He’s already said he is smarter than the generals who run the military so he must be smarter than the FBI or CIA as well. He obviously holds contempt for those he considers to be inferior, like his political rivals, who none-the-less come crawling with their hands out for his favors. He demonstrates the character liabilities of much lesser men and holds no respect for women or he wouldn’t say the things he does.
Unless he is a con artist the likes of which this country has never witnessed.
I hope that is the case. This country doesn’t need one, let alone four, or eight more years of stagnation. We need solutions, not more backbiting and bickering for political gain. Very serious problems exist as well on the international stage. Crisis after crisis in the Middle East. ISIS is short term and will simply become another of the underground terrorist organizations that exist on this planet, but Russia and China are again flexing their nuclear muscle and expansionist dreams. There’s real “trouble in River City,” folks.
Trump has the reins for at least the next four years and if he really intends to do well, and is not just the fraud that so many said he is, he could keep Republicans in power for a long time. If not, it could be a long time before another Republican is elected to high office and that would be the least of our worries.
