I can’t read the April 2 letter to the editor by the gentleman from Camano Island without responding. I will give him the benefit of the doubt that he is not more concerned with his taxes than the health of the citizenry.
The state of Washington has one of the most complicated property tax formulas in the country. So this person’s statement that Gov. Inslee raised property taxes by 14 percent is highly suspicious, because there are so many factors to consider. What is unmistakable is that this Camano Island resident wants to live in one of the most beautiful places of a gorgeous state on the cheap.
Clearly all of us will have to pay a lot more of our resources to cover the expenses incurred during this health crisis. Let’s hope we have politicians who share the financial burden according to those who can afford to pay. Clearly, Inslee had no control over contract settlements for teachers. Lots of things contributed to the United States being a world power. Many refuse to accept the fact that unions were one important factor in our country’s economic progress.
My governmental representatives seem honest. They are certainly hard-working under the present circumstances. This health crisis is deadly and expensive. We need to be willing to pay the upcoming bills for our children’s sake. Enough said.
