What’s wrong with our tribalistic nation? Well, it’s tribalism itself that is so poorly misunderstood.
That we love our families and work well and cooperate with coworkers. That we share happy times together. That we care about our communities. This is all tribalism. It’s ignorant not to see the light and dark sides of this part of human nature.
Science shows that’s we evolved these amazing characteristics and that they have empowered us to create marvelous civilizations. But the dark side of tribalism is evident. We just don’t care about the other. We don’t by nature. We have to tell ourselves to. We have to talk with the other. We have to stop acting like they don’t even exist and that oppression and racism isn’t rampant.
We have to start caring about those we drop bombs on. We have to start having compassion for all other humans and for all other sentient creatures for that matter. But with all this denial of facts. All this denial of injustice. All this pretending we live in a decent, honesty, caring political world must stop.
