In response to the David Broder article in the Oct. 3 Herald (“Confidence in government highest it has been in years”) and several newspaper articles which suggested reading material for U.S. taxpayers, the following facts/information is offered.
The U.S. Congressional Record along with government documents concerning U.S. foreign policy affairs and budget allocations are suggested reading and study documents. These documents are/were available from the U.S. government printing office. These official records reflect the fact that over the last 50 years about $6 trillion has been provided to aid and support treatment of the Arab and Palestinian people in the same manner that American Indians were treated by our ancestors: killing of men, women and children then forcing the remaining Native Americans to live in restricted areas called Indian reservations. Even today, U.S. government employees appear to have problems in management of money owed to 300,000 American Indians.
This $6 trillion contribution is primarily the result of actions initiated by Harry S. Truman, Billy Carter and Bill Clinton. The easiest and most economic way to reduce or eliminate the so-called terrorist actions, is for the U.S. government to stop any and all money and military equipment as contributed to Israel. Provide food and small arms to the Palestinian and other needy Arab people.
