I have taken earlier comments about our president as a cowboy with a grain of salt. I had not seen much to warrant such a title, until recently. The war against terrorism is a noble and just cause, but intricate at the same time.
The answer for Iraq is not to eliminate Saddam Hussein outright. Replacing his regime is totally unfeasible, especially against his forceful (dare I say fatal) propaganda. Instead, we should be focusing our efforts on more proactive and constructive issues, namely the peril of the Iraqi Kurds. If a nation state of Kurdistan is imbued into the Middle East landscape, the United States will have more influence in the mostly-Islamic society. Although other nations in the area deny Kurds recognition, they will be tolerated; at least more so than Jewish Israelis. They already have quite a modern society built up in northern Iraq, with a respectable militia.
As Turkey longs to become another country in the European Union, perhaps we can apply pressure, to force Turkey to allow the Turkish Kurds to secede along with Iraqi Kurds.
