As the interim president and executive board member for the Animal Shelter of North County, I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone involved with the negotiations and rebirth of the Animal Shelter in Arlington. The battle was uphill and difficult but worth every effort.
Even though there are other facilities that attempt to manage the animal population growth through euthanasia, this shelter has a proven track record of accomplishing the same results with a no-kill policy. I feel this policy is the reason why this battle was fought and won by our communities.
Myself and another concerned citizen attended a meeting with the city administrator for the City of Arlington on Sept. 5. During this meeting the administrator assured us the city council wanted to re-enter into another building lease with the current board of directors for the Animal Shelter of North County.
I am happy to announce the grand reopening of the Animal Shelter of North County. The shelter is located at 19118 63rd Ave. NE, in Arlington, near the airport. This reopening is the proof of dedication, caring and love of homeless and deserted animals by our residents.
