I find it very hard to understand why a few people can change things so much. I have only heard one person complaining in Everett over the Ten Commandments being on city property. What about what others want?
I want them to stay. I guess I don’t have the lawyers behind me so my voice is lost in the wind. It makes me feel like Christians are being told to go to the back of the bus because we don’t have the same rights as the non-Christians. What happened to my rights? This land isn’t really the city’s land. It belongs to the people.
A lot of times the First Amendment is spoken of in terms of separation of church and state. Well, they need to really read the First Amendment to see what it really is saying. It is saying the state will neither set up nor start its own religion like they did in England. We have the freedom to pick our own church, pick whether we stand when the flag is saluted. The First Amendment is giving us choices.
I don’t complain about all the Santa things out at Christmas time, but there are some who complain about Christ being in Christmas. Gee, I wonder what they think Christmas is about.
